DE Mortgage Underwriter

Summary Job Description:

• Responsible for the underwriting of mortgage loans to insure compliance with established policies and requirements.
• Serve as a delegated or direct-endorsement underwriter within the requirements established by the investor, insurer or guarantor.
• Work closely with loan originators and processors to ensure compliance with all investor guidelines
• Able to underwrite to multiple investor guidelines in a fast passed environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

• 3-5 years’ experience in mortgage underwriting including conventional, FHA, VA, RD and/or specialty program underwriting.
• Must have an active DE CHUMS number and VA underwriting experience.
• Working experience with DU, LP, and GUS underwriting systems.
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Experience with Encompass Loan Origination Software

EDUCATION:

At least three years mortgage underwriting experience with a proven track record in quality control.

Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor

Summary Job Description:

• Assume certain supervisory responsibilities as assigned by management, such as:
  1. Assist in training new underwriters
  2. Provide guidance and assistance to the local underwriting team as necessary
  3. Provide feedback for performance reviews
• Training/Mentoring the underwriting staff to achieve their SAR, LAPP, DE.
• Full condo reviews and approvals
• In-depth knowledge of analyzing tax returns for self-employed borrowers.
• Responsible for the underwriting of mortgage loans to insure compliance with established policies and requirements.
• Serve as a delegated or direct-endorsement underwriter within the requirements established by the investor, insurer or guarantor.
• Work closely with loan originators and processors to ensure compliance with all investor guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

• Five years' experience in mortgage underwriting including conventional, FHA, VA, RD and/or specialty program underwriting.
• Must have an active DE CHUMS and SAR number with a minimum of three years management/ supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to train staff.
• Working experience with DU, LP, and GUS underwriting systems.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or management.
• The following experience can replace a Bachelor's Degree; at least three years management/supervisory experience, at least five years' experience in mortgage underwriting and advanced industry courses in real estate lending recommended.
